Description: Yellow Embossed Stop Sign, Painted to Red in 1954, Probably 1940's. Yellow background stop signs were required with black lettering and any bordering from 1924 to 1954 when the red background, white lettered stop signs were required. The road crews must have repainted this in 1954 to keep it in service. This one came from the Boston, Mass. area. It's a 24 inch octagon with some rust and corrosion and peeling paint. There is a bend across the top that can be seen in the 3rd pic and the tenth side view pic. Parts rusted right through in the 8th & 9th pic. The screw holes enlarged as seen in some pics. Stop sign with the extra embossed lines on the top and bottom of STOP, and the border. Weighs about 8 pounds. I will ship it safely in heavy cardboard and bubble wrap by UPS.
