Description: The Xantrex C40 is a 40 amp multi-function DC controller that is field configurable for 12V, 24V, or 48V operation. The DC controller is a critical component in any solar, wind or hydro power generation system and protects the batteries from over-discharge and over-charge conditions.The Xantrex C40 charge controller can be used as a charge, diversion, or load controller. In Charge Control Mode the C40 can be used as a PWM charge controller to control how the batteries are charged by the DC source (solar, wind, or hydro). It uses a 3-stage charging protocol to maintain battery voltage at bulk and/or float levels, while offering automatic temperature compensation and equalization capabilities. It may also be used as a Diversion Controller to divert any excess energy to a diversion load in PV, wind, or hydro installations, and in the case of a wind or hydro generator, help prevent over-spin damage. In Load Control Mode the C40 acts as a Load Controller, preventing damage to the battery from over-discharge during periods of poor charging or excessive loads.At its core, the C40 controller has a powerful microprocessor, which increases system performance and maximizes battery life. It comes with a standard multi-color charge status LED face plate and is also fully solid state and operates silently.
