The X-Men are a team of fictional mutant superheroes appearing in comics published by Marvel Comics. Created by artist/co-writer Jack Kirby and writer Stan Lee, the characters first appeared in The X-Men #1 (1963) and formed one of the most recognizable and successful franchises of Marvel Comics, appearing in numerous books, television shows, films, and video games. Uncanny X-Men is the longest running X-Men title that began in 1963. In 1991, Marvel decided to break up the X-Men teams and launch a new series titled just X-Men. With the return of Xavier and the original X-Men to the team, the roster was split into two strike forces: Cyclops's "Blue Team" (chronicled in X-Men) and Storm's "Gold Team" (in The Uncanny X-Men). The first issues of the second X-Men series were written by Chris Claremont and drawn and co-plotted by Jim Lee. Dazzler is a superheroine appearing in comics published by Marvel Comics, usually associated with the X-Men. She first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #130 (1980). Dazzler is a mutant with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams. The character was created principally writer/editor Tom DeFalco and illustrator John Romita Jr. She starred in a self-titled series in the early 1980s which lasted forty-two issues, and later joined the cast of the X-Men. Age of Apocalypse is a 1995 comic crossover storyline mostly published in the X-Men franchise of books by Marvel Comics. The Age of Apocalypse briefly replaced the universe of Earth-616. During the entirety of the Age of Apocalypse event the regularly published X-Men comics were replaced by new X-Men related mini series, focusing on various teams and individuals in the Age of Apocalypse world including X-Calibre, Gambit and the X-Ternals, Generation Next, Astonishing X-Men, Amazing X-Men, Weapon X, Factor X, X-Man and X-Men Chronicles. The storyline starts with Legion, a psychotic mutant who traveled back in time to kill Magneto before he can commit various crimes against humanity. Legion accidentally kills Professor Charles Xavier, his father, leading to a major change in the timeline. The death of Professor Xavier leads Apocalypse to take control of Earth and alter everything that happened from that point forward. Apocalypse is opposed by several factions of mutant resistance, including a group led by Magneto.
