The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Franz Mayr Franz was a Sergeant and is pictured in a real, glued in photo. He fell during the 'heavy and defensive battles in the Crimea as the second and last son' on April 10, 1944 at the age of 32. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
