The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Ignaz Mühlbauer Ignaz was a Private in the Infantry and fell on August 5, 1941 during the heavy fighting at Lake Ilmen in Russia at the age of 22.
