Scabbard is NOT included. There were three patterns. The first was made in 1905-1906, the second was made in 1915-1918 and the third was made during WWII. They are typically blued. During 1933-1945 period, Germany used three different marking systems to identify manufacturers. From 1925-1940 a number code were used. From 1937-1940 commercial trademarks were used. From 1940-1945 letter codes were used. This one has a letter code. Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition, considering its age and history. The press catch is functional with very stiff spring tension. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They both have light scrapes and impact marks with finish loss along the leading edges. The finish has started to turn a gray patina color. The escutcheons securely fasten the panels to the tang. They have light tool marks with strong slots and oxidation. Both grip panels have light scrapes and the serrations are distinct. The flashguard on top has impact marks, scrapes and oxidation. Some of the original finish has worn off. The spine, fuller and blade have superficial oxidation, most notably on the right side and in the fuller. The blade has no nicks or dings and appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. Some of the original factory finish has worn off, notably on the left side. The left side ricasso is marked with the year date and the secret manufacturer code "41 ddl" - Josua Corts Sohn Remscheid - and the right side guard is marked with the serial number "4822". There are faint proof marks on the pommel. Scabbard is NOT included. This bayonet will be a great addition to your Mauser k98 rifle, or a bayonet collection in general.
