Description: An original World War II RAF floating light that fits in the pocket of the 1941 pattern yellow life jacket or the same pocket attached to the Taylor buoyancy suit. These lights were issued to all aircrew using the 41 pattern yellow life jacket. The light is new old stock but clearly has signs of age and storage. There is some slight rusting visible in the photographs and as with all these lights, the rubber covering on the cable has become hard and brittle. It will snap off but this is not visible when on display as it fits inside the canvas carrier on the life jacket. The battery canister is nice and clean on the inside and the screw cap removes easily. There is a large thick fibre insulating washer that fits in the battery compartment. This is shown in the photograph. The floating section is in very nice condition with its lead weight marked MADE IN ENGLAND and with the patent number. The plated bulb holder and lens cover are perfect. The battery canister is clearly embossed 5A/2728 A Crown M and is finished in a classic dark Air Ministry blue. The light is in its original cardboard carton. Please note I send to all countries worldwide except Italy. Contact me for the postage charge where it is not stated for your country.
