Description: You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a WW1 Imperial German Prussian Officer Schirmmütze (Visor)! This was the standard cap used by the Army throughout the war. The Prussian army’s visor cap evolved from the enlisted mans "stable cap" in the early 1800's and was originally reserved for wear by Officers and Senior NCOs. In the early 1900's wear of the visor cap was extended to EM and Junior NCO ranks when off duty or in peace time. In 1907/1910 the German army introduced a new field-grey uniform, including headgear, to replace the previously worn dark blue uniforms. In 1915 after the outbreak of WWI the new 1907/1910 uniforms and headgear underwent minor modifications and were re-designated the M1915 uniform. On its introduction the NCO/Officer’s visor cap was issued with a branch of service, (waffenfarbe) colored centerband and piping. Made of a Dark Blue Wool with a Blue Wool Band and White Piping, this Officer Visor Cap is in GOOD condition, considering its age! Some slight marks due to the age, as well as some wear and holes, as you can see in the photos. Some slight mothing and wear. The front of the cap bears a Black, White and Red Reichskokarde (Imperial Cockade); with a Black and White Cockade on the cap band, representing the Kingdom of Prussia. The interior is lined with tan oil cloth, with a light brown oil cloth sweatband. Sweat band has come away in some areas (see photos). The top of the cap has a VERY CLEAR maker logo. Size is approximately 58cm or so. I believe these colors represent a Pay Officer, but not 100% sure. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display! Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
