This book tells his personal story of what it was like living in an orphanage during the years of the great depression. Then five short years later, to spent his youth in World War II aboard a Sub-chaser fighting the Nazi and Japanese undersea menace. During his teen years it was evident America would soon be involved in the world conflict.
