Description: Heinemann 8-volume biography complete set plus 2 companions, all first editions (all of these were collected as each was originally published) in very good minus condition with very good minus dust jackets. All have original prices still on jacket. Some of these books are better than very good minus condition, but I have attempted to grade conservatively. Nevertheless, this is a very nice set. The following flaws and imperfections or additional comments are noted: Volume I: Youth 1974-1900: minor foxing on page edges and slight bowing to the spine. Slight discoloration on a portion of the back board. The Book has been read, but pages are very clean. A bookseller wrote a price in pencil on lead page that has been erased. Extra edge and corner wear on dust jacket and some delamination on front as well as a vertical scratch. Volume II: Young Statesman 1901-1914: book is apparently unread as pages are clean and crisp. Jacket has a chip on the front. Inside of jacket has transfer of the red from the cloth covering the boards. Volume III: 1914–1916: hard bump to the top front corner at the spine and a large corresponding tear in the jacket. Book has been read, though pages are clean. Extra wear at jacket edges and corners, as well as another small tear on top of jacket front. Volume IV: 1917-1922: minor foxing on page edges. Book appears to have been unread as pages are clean and crisp, yet junction of front free end page and lead page has pulled apart (but not from binding). Volume V: 1922-1939: minor foxing on page edges. Pages are clean. Volume VI: Finest Hour 1939-1941: no discernable flaws. Volume VII: Road to Victory 1941-1945: very minor foxing on page edges. Book does not appear to have been read; pages very clean. Very slight sun fading on spine of jacket. Volume VIII: Never Despair 1945-1965: A bookseller wrote a price in pencil on lead page. Book does not appear to have been read; pages very crisp and clean. Companion Volume I, Part 1 1874-1896: book appears to have only been partly read; pages clean and crisp. Small tear on jacket at bottom of spine. Companion Volume I, Part 2 1896-1900: book does not appear to have read; pages clean and crisp. I have shown domestic USA shipping costs.
