William Nicholson Original Lithograph Dated 1898. Framed With Mount.

Description: I am selling an original late 19th Century lithograph by the celebrated printmaker William Nicholson (1872-1949). The lithograph of the Archbishop of Canterbury is one of twelve from the published series called “Twelve Portraits” which was published in 1899 and is taken from the previously published original woodcut series of 1897. The national portrait gallery has a complete portfolio of the twelve portraits and William Nicholson was referenced in the national portrait gallery book “Portrait Masterpieces 1900-2000” The image is printed in black ink on a brown-toned paper and has touches of colour to enliven the image. The print is in excellent antique condition with no obvious damages. The lithograph measures 28 cm / 11 in wide and 25 cm / 10 in tall. This lithograph is still in its original 1899 mount dating and the mount measures 42 cm / 16 in tall and 38 cm / 15 in wide. Any white or ghost marks on the photographs are not on the lithograph but are reflections from the glass when I was taking the photos. The lithograph has a contemporary plain black frame and is ready to decorate your wall or add to your collection. The green portfolio cover and its content pages providing details about the published series are not included in this sale and can be purchased separately. This item has had a previous life and may show signs of wear and tear commensurate with age. If I spot any issues these will be included in the description or in the photos of the item.
