Description: These three wood engravings by William Baxter Palmer Closson (1848-1926), are from the series "Homes & Haunts of the Poets, Original Etchings by W.B. Closson." Published in 1886 by L. Prang & Co. in Boston, MA, the series highlighted 5 accomplished poets of the era. These etchings are part of the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow series. The unbound etchings were originally held in an envelope style wrap, which also included a cover leaf, portrait, and biography. This set is incomplete, and only includes 3 of the original etchings. The engravings show significant locations from Longfellow's life, including his home in Cambridge, a view of the Charles River, and the Wayside Inn. Engraved into each plate is the title, artist's signature, and copyright July 1886. The plates measure approximately 5.5 inches by 7 inches. They were printed in sepia on thick paper, and the plate indentations are visible. All 3 have some signs of age and handling, but are in good condition overall.
