Description: White Lake Charter Township is a charter township of Oakland County in the state of Michigan. Together with its two unincorporated communities, the township makes up part of the Detroit metropolitan area outskirts. It had a post office initially named as Plainville when it opened in 1838. It was renamed White Lake in 1841 and operated until 1910. The Huron River rises in White Lake Township. White Lake is an all-sport, 540-acre lake in White Lake Township and is the sixth largest lake in Oakland County. Potawatomi, Chippewa, and Ottawa Native Americans lived, traveled, and camped in this area including on the shores of White Lake which they called “white” of “clear” and that is where the name of the lake and township originated. The card was published by the “Conley's Pharmacy, Whitehall Michigan” but the printer is unknown. It is post marked 1911 in Mitchillinda and is in good condition with minor wear and a clean, clear, nicely colored image of the lake front with a couple young boys standing on the beach. The reverse has a nice message to Grandma and is clean. Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia for research and try to be as accurate as possible. Corrections appreciated.
