Artist biography: Wendell Mohr, born near Eldridge, Iowa, on February 25, 1926, was a renowned artist celebrated for his watercolor paintings. His artistic journey began at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, where he earned an associate degree in 1948. He further honed his skills at the Des Moines Art Center. Mohr’s artistry was diverse, capturing cityscapes, seaports, locomotives, and factories with a unique flair. His work found a home in galleries and museums across the country and became a part of numerous private and corporate collections. Mohr’s talent was recognized by several prestigious societies. He was a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society. He also held the title of Master Watercolorist in the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and was a charter member of the Iowa Watercolor Society. After a fruitful life dedicated to art, Mohr passed away on May 25, 2008, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 82. His legacy continues to inspire and influence the world of art.
