The chest measurement is to help with fit up there but the actual waist of the overalls is measured by the widest area of the hip and that is what is used in the listing title as the waist! - Overalls typically are supposed to be bought 4 inches above what you would normally wear in pants, do not use this to make your purchase decision but that is what is suggested.
