Description: This is a Walt Disney IMAGINEERING business card from CHRIS RUNCO who designed the PEE WEE PAUL RUBENS STAR WARS DISNEYLAND Droid Pilot. RX-24 was a far different character than any of the droids that had appeared in the Star Wars franchise before. Chris Runco was a Walt Disney imagineer who worked on the original Star Tours ride at Disneyland. Runco designed Captain Rex, the pilot droid and main character of the attraction. Based on Runco's foam sculpt for the character, fellow imagineers Larry Sheldon and Lance Updyke created Rex animatronic puppets from aluminum The world of entertainment lost a legend with the passing of the great Paul Reubens, whose work within comedy had the unique ability to charm both children and their parents in equal measure. A celebrity Disney Imagineer for over three decades, Chris Runco is best known as the visionary behind America’s most successful waterpark, Typhoon Lagoon. In his role as a concept designer, art director, and illustrator, Runco’s projects also included Shanghai Disneyland’s Gardens of Imagination; the 2010 upgrade of Tokyo Disneyland’s Monsters, Inc.
