Finding an original gas cap in good shape is starting to get tough - luckily some caps are still being made by VW's original manufacturer - Blau! This cap was used from 1974-1979 on Buses and this one is just like the one Blau made 50 years ago with the only real difference being it's a locking example (which was a dealer accessory at the time). In 1974 VW, to save money, ditched the fuel door so the gas cap was exposed. Unfortunately around that same time the 70's gas crisis hit and fuel theft went crazy so locking gas caps became really popular. Fast forward to the current day - the 74-79 Buses are still on the road and gas theft is starting to be a thing again so not only are you getting a gas cap that actually fits and seals (unlike the cheapie aftermarket ones), you're getting some piece of mind that no one is going to steal your fresh tankful of gas!
