Description: Here we have a Vintage FAIRMOUNT No. 12H Upholstery Leather Work Tack Hammer w/ Magnetic Poll Tip, Hickory Handle. Fairmount Tool and Forging was a tool maker and drop-forger founded in December of 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio. The company became well known as a manufacturer of automobile tool kits and also specialized in tools for automobile body work. By 1928 Fairmount was offering miscellaneous hammers plus hammers and dollies specifically for auto bodywork. Hammer is identified on the left side of the head. Hammer head overall length is is approx. 5-3/4". The main hammer face is 7/16" in dia. The opposite "poll end' has a 3/8" dia. face and the 2-prong shaped end is "magnetized". It looks like a previous owner slightly narrowed down the tips. The hickory handle has stains, nicks and chips, but I don't see any cracks. The end has 5 tack nails driven into it. ??
