Description: The E Rosen Company in Rhode Island started business in 1911, making all kinds of candy with containers. They made all kinds of valentines that could be used to gift candy! They are called "lollipop" holders. The current term for this type of candy is called a "sucker". There are little die cut loops that can be pushed out to hold the stick in the candy, to make a lovely Valentine gift. They made these cards for YEARS. The early cards are one or two color, and vary in size. The ones from the 1930's are often much smaller. The later ones in the 1950's were full color lithographed paper over cardboard. This one features a little boy farmer. It has no damage, just darkening from age. The piece is printed directly on the cardboard.
