Description: VTG Mayan Terra Cotta Clay Pottery Bust King Pacal Of Palenque Head Statue 14” Really nice sculpt, a lot more detail than most I have seen of king pacal. Has some general wear for age and one spot where the embellishment on the side broke off and was smoothed out, see close up, does not detract from piece. Nicely mounted on a wood base, is filled with some sort of rocks or sand, so when you turn it around makes a pleasing sound. This is a solid piece and quite heavy. Obtained from an estate of a person that traveled the world and was a retired history teacher so there were a lot of sculptures, artifacts and historical items.
