Description: VINTAGE EXPRESSIONIST PALETTE KNIFE IMPASTO CITYSCAPE PAINTINGThis is an acrylic (matte finish) painting on board, artist signed "Elias" in lower left. The painting is not titled (unless it is under the frame). It is a beautiful vintage I believe midcentury expressionist painting of a city skyline in winter. Colors are predominately contrasty blue and white, a little red, orange, yellow, green and with distinctive black geometric lines in the style of famous modernist painter Bernard Buffet. The original frame of linen and wood has water damage. The painting appears to be undamaged but not absolutely sure (see final photos and closeups). Artist intentionally painted roughly and quickly and left many unpainted areas on the board as part of the composition. The frame dates to the mid century and I have assumed this is also the date of the painting but it could be earlier. This painting has a modernist style and beautiful colors and displays very well. The painting with frame measures approximately 16" x 20" and w/o frame measures about 12" x 16". I accept returns. (#CC)
