Description: This artisan made decorative pendant necklace commemorates the Cultura Zapoteca of Mexico. This important culture was pre-columbian , occupied an area in Mexico south of Oaxaca and dates back 3500 years. The main God was Xipe Totec (pictured on the medallion). This necklace appears to be artisan made , but is unsigned, and uses brass and turquoise colored glass beads in an intricately designed piece of jewelry. The main medallion is done repousse style and measures 2 1/2" in diameter. The main portion dangles 5" from the bar above the medallion to the bottom of the danglers. The chain which goes around the neck is 24" long and closes with a simple S clasp. I consider the overall condition to be really nice with the exception of a few faint oxidation spots on the main medallion. They could be polished out but that could involve polishing the entire medallion They are almost invisible in person but the camera is relentless in capturing every little spot.
