Description: This is a vintage Chinese wood, carved jade medallion and brass hardware jewelry box or small chest with bat and floral decoration. It belonged to my mother, who lived in Japan in the early 1950s. It is in nice vintage condition and comes with two sets of working locks and keys for the two doors. The exterior is brown, while the interior is more of a cherry or mahogany color. I have dusted all of the surfaces but have not polished the chest. Being vintage, the doors do not close flush (last photo). There is damage to the interior bottom drawer on the front right side (photo #13) that is not visible from the front. All of the jade is firmly attached. The chest is heavy at 8 lbs. 1 oz. and large, measuring about 8" x 5-5/8" x 12-1/2" to the top of the wood - about the size of a sneaker box. There is a heavy brass handle on top. The four interior and one exterior drawers have green silk lining. The top two drawers have a total of 12 ring holders plus spaces for bracelets and necklaces. The exterior bottom drawer has a lightweight removable tray.Thank you for looking.
