Description: Description: The item up for bids is a vintage art deco silver-plated thermal carafe from the Italian Lines ocean liner / cruise ship company. It features a tall tapered form with an angular handle, a flared spout, speed-lines at the waist, and a stopper on a chain. On one side it it is engraved ITALIA with the crown logo. The interior has a blown glass double walled insert (similar to a Thermos bottle) to keep hot liquid hot and cold liquid cold. The carafe was made in Italy by Broggi and is marked as such on the bottom. It is relatively heavy for its size and feels solid and well made. Even the stopper is heavy and over engineered, they truly do not make them like this any more. It is a great piece of ocean liner memorabilia, have some fun and bid! Dimensions: It's about 11” tall at the finial of the stopper, and about 4” in diameter at its widest. It weighs a bit over two pounds (2 lbs. 1.3 oz. or 944 grams). (Note: measurements are approximate) Condition: It is in good vintage condition. It shows age appropriate handling and storage wear with scuffs, scratches, and dings. The silver plating is in good shape with good color and shine. There is minor spotting and there are areas of tarnish throughout. The interior looks pretty good, no residue that I can see, looks clean and shiny. The rubber in the cork shows a bit of age but remains solid and has a decent fit.
