Vtg (70s) OOAK Grandma/Grandpa handmade Joy dishwashing soap bottle dolls, EVC

Description: Vintage (70s) OOAK Grandma/Grandpa handmade Joy dish washing soap bottle dolls Desc: Cute little pair, Appalachian husband-and-wife farmers with coordinating outfits. The base of both dolls are “Giant Size Lemon Fresh Joy” bottles filled with small stones (see pictures.) The stones give them good support, they stand perfectly. The heads are standard, hard molded plastic. Grandma (aka Tressa Edmundsen): 12” high (to top of her bonnet), 10” wide (w/skirt flared) and 3” deep. The dress and bonnet are both made of a simple cotton material, blue, green, and white floral design. The dress has a high neck, puffed long sleeves with a ruffled, hemmed bottom, the bodice has darts in front, a pleat in the back. The artist used straight pins in some areas (top of neckline in back, close to the neckline in front.) The neckline is trimmed with white lace and the waist has a sash made of a paper ribbon that coordinates with the design/colors of the dress. She has a wisp of white bangs, large black eyes, some eyelashes and freckles, and wears gold metal wire glasses. Grandpa (aka Elton Edmundsen): is a bit taller at 13” tall (to the tip of his hat), 5 ½” wide (at widest point) and 3” deep. The overalls are made of cotton denim, coarsely stitched white trim accent throughout the garment. His wears a high collared floral long sleeved shirt and a straw hat. He has a full head of salt-and-pepper hair and a full beard, blue eyes w/ a few lashes, dark brown freckles and is wearing dark metal Oxford spectacles.The tape and/or plastic Joy bottle that was used years and years ago may be deteriorating at this point but nothing is noticeable. I have, on a rare occasion, found one of the small stones but nothing is Origin: Made in USA (Appalachian Mountain area of Chattanooga, TN) artisan made, no identifying marks or #s.
