Description: VINTAGE 1953 50s ARMY SPEARHEAD 3rd ARMORED DIVISION IKE JACKET UNIFORM Like ELVIS 38L This jacket belonged to a soldier serving in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant, 3rd grade. He was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division in West Germany and had a "Spearhead" insignia on his shoulder patch. The issue date printed on the jacket is 1953. Depending on his length of service, he may have served with the most famous soldier of that division, Elvis Presley. There are photos of Elvis wearing this same jacket with the Spearhead, 3rd Division patch. Elvis, too, achieved the rank of Sergeant. Colin Powell also served in this division. The blue braided cord is a distinctive insignia of an infantry soldier, meaning he was trained to serve on the ground, in close range combat. This jacket looks quite good for its age and use. There are a couple of holes in back, one of which may be a starter hole that doesn't go all the way through. Both are the size of crumbs (quite small). There are also three small holes on the end of the right sleeve. The jacket itself is made of wool and features two pockets in front and one on the inside of the jacket. It has a zip closure with snap reinforcements. It is fully lined. Original size was 38L. **Check measurements for an accurate fit! Measurements:chest - 41"waist - 34"shoulder to shoulder - 17"sleeve - 24.5"shoulder to hem - 22.5" We do our best to point out known flaws in our clothing, but this jacket is vintage and as such is being sold as is.
