Description: This is a pair of deadstock USMC Cotton Khaki Trousers, part of the USMC summer service uniform. These were issued to, and came from the estate of a WWII and Korean War USMC veteran who was in the reserve from 1945 through the beginning of 1950, when he was called up to fight in Korea. This particular pair of pants lacks any absolute way to date them, but given the other (very similar) trousers they were found with (available on my Ebay seller's page) likely date from sometime between 1945 and 1949, between conflicts. Compared to the other trousers found, these feature a different, earlier style of button, which should put them pre-1949, at the very least, and likely much closer to the end of WWII. This particular pair of trousers is made of a khaki cotton twill fabric, in a 5-pocket construction, and a 5-button fly. The back pockets also feature the same buttons, likely made of an early plastic like melamine, or bakelite, given their look and the time period. The original inspection tag is stitched on the inside of the front-left pocket, and the HBT hang-tag with sizing information is present on the inside of the waist. There are 2 cutter tags on the back, and 4 on the front, with two hidden inside the side slant pockets. Given their construction It's most likely that these would be more broadly called the enlisted man's 'Summer Service Trousers' M-1945. The pattern and color of the Summer Service Trousers barely changed between the late 1930s, all the way up until the start of the Korean War. The measurements are included on the internal tag, and on the cutter tags, listed as 36" x 33," close to the measured 35" x 33," the difference likely coming from the creasing. These trousers were stored imperfectly, and do feature quite a bit of staining, especially around the creases and folds on the front and back, towards the waist.
