Description: Vintage 1930s chess/checkers game board, hand-painted on linoleum in blue, pink, and black, and originally produced by Armstrong Cork Company of Lancaster, Pa, as part of flooring line. This cut square was part of a "Quaker Rug" pattern for children, consisting of nursery rhymes and various games. A 1937 company publication described this pattern as “bright, colorful, long-wearing, and easy to clean” as well as “the most novel ever offered in the Quaker Rug Line.” Shows heavy distressing/wear throughout, including scuffs/scratches, jagged edges, paint loss, crackled surface, dirt, marks/stains, etc. Please see pictures.
