This standard lens is a modern reproduction of the Heliar optical formula, which is famous as the formula used in one of the earliest lenses in the history of Voigtländer. Despite its simple optical formula with just 5 elements in 3 groups, this lens demonstrates reliable imaging quality and high performance. An original design with a classical taste is utilized for the exterior. Simple and high performance While the Heliar type is a legendary optical configuration that dates back to the 19th century, it has the potential to demonstrate sufficient performance even when examined from a modern perspective. Despite its simple optical formula, this lens provides reliable imaging quality, strong color reproducibility and excellent clarity. Classical exterior An original design with a classical taste is utilized for the exterior. All parts made from metal for excellent feel and operability. The Heliar optical configuration is engraved on the lens barrel. Dedicated lens hood included The lens comes with a black-finished metal hood with push-on lens cap designed not only for its stray light shielding performance but also to match the lens. Manual focus for reliable focusing Employs a very precisely machined and adjusted all metal helicoid unit lubricated with high quality grease to realize smooth focusing operation with just the right amount of torque. This enables very precise focusing. Bayonet type VM mount Uses the VM-mount lens mount compatible with Leica M-mount. Not only can this lens be used on rangefinder-coupled cameras, but design-wise it also balances very nicely when mounted on mirrorless digital cameras with a mount adapter. Installed with a focus-coupling system The high-precision rangefinder coupling mechanism enables precise focusing at maximum aperture and close shooting distances. The minimum rangefinder-coupled focus distance is 0.7m. Imaging circle that covers full frame format The lens features a generous imaging circle that covers the 35 mm full frame format.
