Description: Sabre Large Barlow knife Model 629 This vintage 629 Sabre Large Barlow knife, made in Japan, is a true gem for beginning collectors. My grandfather used this style as a hunting knife and carried one in the pocket on the bib of his carpenters' overalls. I can still see in my memories the butt of it sticking up next to his square pencils. The knife features a sawcut-surface/imitation bone/Delrin handle and the Barlow brand name, along with the model number 629. The knife came in various finishes. The old model number was a 29 before the 6 was added. The 629 is a bit too big to be a true pocketknife, but it has a fantastic solid heft, the mechanism is smooth, and it just fits well in the hand.
