Description: This is a WW2 vintage US Navy N-4 Utility Deck Jacket Rapid Talon Zipper is a must-have for collectors of militaria. The jacket is an original period item from the Vietnam War ‘Tet Offensive’ era (1961-75) and play particular attention to the original USN lettering stencil, name tag, and period patches . It has seen service, but remains in relatively original shape. It features a Rapid zippered front and is made from high-quality materials. N-4s were positively issued stateside before the WW2 end and it continued to serve well after WWII into the Vietnam Era, which explains this particular configuration seen on this particular jacket. The WWII N-4 was an intermediate weight ‘field jacket’ that was the U.S. Navy’s counter-part to the U.S. Army’s M-41. These were worn both on and off ship, as well as by some Corpsman serving with the Marines. (Some sailors wore Army M41's.) Although externally similar to the field jacket, the N4 was simpler, with no epaulets or bi-swing back. The shell is a tightly woven olive drab no. 7 poplin, with a flannel lining. A number 3 Talon brass zipper is used as the closure. The result is a very comfortable, lightweight jacket. Primarily it was designed for units that would be operating on shore, such as beach battalions and units like the famous 'Seabees', hence it’s army-like olive-drab shade of green for land camouflage. SHELL 100% cotton poplin weave LINING 100% melton wool in the correct shade POCKET LINING 100% wool as per lining Buttons are all present and accounted for Original wartime Talon zipper. This jacket shows lots of authentic character and difficult to find with all the buttons in the correct position with original threading!
