Description: WET: The Magazine of Gourmet Bathing was a publication of the 1970s and early 80s. Rare & Vintage Magazine Lot. 6 issues, #26, #27, #28, #29, #30, #34 Founded by Leonard Koren in 1976 it ran thirty-four issues before closing in 1981. The idea for the magazine grew out of the artwork Leonard Koren was doing at the time—what he termed 'bath art'—and followed on the heels of a party he threw at the Pico-Burnside Baths. WET covered a range of cultural issues and was widely known for its use of graphic art. Started as a simple one-man operation that included artwork and text solicited from friends and acquaintances, the production, team, and circulation of the magazine would grow over the years. It was a venue for graphic design experimentation, paving the way for New Wave and Postmodern styles. Overall good vintage condition with some wear consistent with age. HERO Issue 1980 US magazine, issue no 27 November 1980. Wet was a Style magazine. Very rare and only ran for a few years with a small circulation. Interview with Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys 4 pages with a photograph by Raye Santos. Bud Cort is interviewed and (The actor from Harold and Maude) is photographed by with several portraits by Herb Ritts. These are very early Ritts and unknown images not even on his website timeline. 4 page Men in Skirts fashion feature photographed by Mashe Brakha. This issue features identical front and back covers with a photo of two busy pigs, and has a 14-page feature on the photographer Helmut Newton, as well as shorter pieces on cartoonist Mark Stamaty, musicians 1/2 Japanese, Steely Dan, and Andy Partridge of XTC. This issue is in good+ condition, clean and complete. The newsprint pages are lightly yellowed with age, but are unmarked. The four center pages (that is, two folded sheets) are present, but are separated from the issue and have small neat holes where they were pulled off the staples (see Photo 3.) The covers are smooth and uncreased, with no stickers or mailing labels on them, with a small strip of sun-fading along the spine (see Photos 1 and 2.)
