Description: Styled like the iconic big blades featured in Western TV shows and movies, this traditional Western Bowie is a noteworthy American classic. The fixed blade (single piece of steel from blade tip to handle butt) needs to be sharpened and shows some light pitting from neglect somewhere in its long past but there is nothing to prevent it from being easily restored to its original glory. It is a long wide blade—9” from tip to hand guard and almost 2” wide—with weight forward balance and and a faded false edge to assure maximum cutting, chopping, and piercing power. The Rosewood handle is as solid and perfectly affixed as the day it was made (was recently very delicately sanded with a fine grit so it can be oiled, or stained, urethaned, painted, carved, gnawed on by large housecats with rabies, tweaker ex-girlfriends with poor dental hygiene and scabies, Antichrist babies or simply sealed) and it has the characteristic S patterned brass handguard to protect your fingers and enhance its defensive potential. There is no sheath included but the Wild West interweb has every style imaginable available. There is much controversy around the creation dates of the many variations of WB’s over the years, with the standard birthdate being 1964. I am no expert but I believe this to be the 2nd Version, the Vietnam War version, dated 1965-1967, but I am open to correction.
