Vintage Vemco 520 Drafting Machine with 12" Scales for 24"X36" Board

Description: Here is a vintage VEMCO drafting machine in excellent condition, lightly used and recently taken out of storage. Serial numbers of the horizontal and vertical beams match, ensuring good fit and function. The vertical rail carries the protractor assembly, fitted with a pair of 12-inch scales. The scales are branded "Fotobeam Brookside" by a defunct local dealer, but I believe they were made by Keuffel & Esser. The scales lay flat and are clean with edges free of nicks/dents. The scales are graduated in English units: 1/32 inch on one edge, 1/50 inch on the other. Each end is fitted with an aluminum dovetail rail, that fits into the dovetail slot of the protractor assembly. The rails are adjustable (can pivot) to set the scales perpendicular to each other. The protractor reads to single degrees, with a vernier reading to 5 arc-minutes. The index and angle-lock levers work fine. Of course, the protractor assembly can be swung upward out of the way, and can be easily removed by undoing a single thumb-screw at the vertical rail. The horizontal rail has a pair of clamps for securement to a board (minimum size 24 by 36 inches). The clamps can be moved along the rail, and open up to 2 inches. This machine will be disassembled and carefully packaged for shipment. Domestic USA shipping only, thank you. Local pick-up is also welcome. A local buyer will have the added option of buying the 24 by 36" board for an additional $80.00. This board is likewise in very good condition, and includes a (removable) blotter material (unknown material) which affords a firm but compliant surface that makes drawing a breeze.
