Comes in a newer case with a bow missing most of its horse hair. Instrument does need strings and a bridge which are easily and inexpensively obtainable. This is a great investment and a great sounding full-size violin made by Lewis and sons. It is a German made violin with very decent tonewood, such as maple for the sides and the back as well as fine grain spruce for the top
