Description: This a 5 1/4" Charlotte Weibull male doll of a Swedish folk costume from the Fars Harad or parish in the province of Skane in southern Sweden. His vest is an authentic pattern from this area. This sort of costume is from the 18th to 19th centuries. This type of doll is a rolly-polly doll, made with 2 balls: the larger one or the body of the figure is dressed in a folk costume and the smaller ball serves as the head with a hand painted face, yellow thread hair, and a red cap that was very common for this period in Sweden. Fortunately , the original, authentic, plastic container with Weibull's logo is also included. There is a string attached to the doll's hat that has a gold and red ball and extra string. I am not sure of the purpose of these items. There is a small pamphlet in Swedish about Charlotte's doll workshop and how her dolls were made. This artist was very popular internationally from the 1950's to about the 1990's, but the dolls are still being sought after by numerous collectors.
