Description: This listing is for a Vintage Sterling Silver Enameled Trinket Box. The box measures 3.75 X 3.0 X 1.75 inches. The interior is lined with very thin veneer wood. The bottom has the same veneer with a black paper that is partially torn off. The metal is not marked Sterling Silver, but tests Sterling with the acid test. The edges around the enameled sides and top are framed with Sterling that is embossed with a geometrical design. It's quite tarnished, so the detail is hard to see. The enameling is vivid Red, Light Green, Dark Green, Yellow and Black. It weighs 10.75 ounces. Considering that most of the weight of this item comes from the Sterling Silver metal, I estimate there are over 8.5 Troy ounces of pure Silver in this piece. Today's price for pure silver (11/16/2024) is 30.20 per ounce. That is over $250.00 of silver! Super interesting old box. NOTE: There are 2 chipped enamel places on the box.
