Description: This vintage hand-crafted Volkswagen Beetle (with the top down) has four (4) hand-carved African occupants of the vehicle. One is the driver and he has three (3) passengers. Such a unique collectible piece! The car is created with pieces carved separately and then, assembled with glue. The driver & 3 passengers were also carved separately and then assembled on the inside of the vehicle. Amazing intricate details on each figure, as well as all the details of the car, both inside & outside! Please note that the wood on the body of the car is even lighter than these photos - it doesn’t photograph well. This is an estate sale find. My guess is that the original owner purchased this, while on their travels overseas. I don’t know how old this is, or who the original artist was. I could also be wrong on what part of the world it comes from! All I know is that this car & occupants was handmade, with much care - making it a one-of-a-kind piece of primitive art. It is perfect for collectors of African artifacts and those who appreciate the beauty of African handcrafted items. *PLEASE NOTE* The left door handle has been broken off. Smoke free home.
