Description: This fabulous, unusual Majolica-style tile painting features a group of colorful sailboats along the shore and a few more in the distance. The coastal scene is beautifully executed in shades of turquoise, aqua, cobalt blue, orange, red, forest green, rust, chocolate brown, beige, ivory and white. The medium is glazed ceramic with a self-frame and velvet fabric back. The piece is unsigned. I don't know the exact age, but would estimate 1980's - 1990's, based on the style and color palette. It measures approximately 14 inches in height and is about 11 inches wide (including frame), a nice small-medium size. The tile picture itself is in good vintage condition. There are no cracks or chips on the surface. However, there is some very light crazing that can be seen in the photos. There are also some small spots on the edge of the frame where the glaze has chipped away - these are not visible when the piece is hanging on the wall or leaning on a shelf. (see photos). The velvet backing of the picture looks good - no tears or stains. The hanging bracket is secure and sturdy. Please see photos for more detail. This painting is much more striking in person that the photographs convey.
