vintage ORIGINAL 1873 Framed Duck Litho: CASARCA RUTILA or Ruddy Shelduck

Description: THIS IS: ---a wonderfully framed original hand colored lithograph of 2 ducks, called CASARCA RUTILA. This stunning original John Gould bird was issued as one of the "Bird's of Great Britain". This set of lithograph's was produced over an 11 year period from 1862 - 1873. This was the work that Mr Gould was most proud of as an ornithologist. There were 367 separate birds pictured, many with nests, babies and natural surroundings.... it has been professionally framed by Peregrine Framing out of Lincoln Mass. with Uv light blocking protection on the glass via "ThuGuard". the matting is well cut, the red and gold lines on the matting are hand done. the frame is aprox 22 x 27" and the litho showing is aprox 12 1/2 x 18". the litho has been framed a bit tight as the name J. Gould & H C Richter is not shown at the bottom which would be just a hair under the CASARCA RUTILA title and to the left. while Walter Imp would be to the right, i can see a tiny tear to the left of the Pociceps (see photo 5), i have another duck from the same book framed from the same place, that has a bit of damage at the bottom (you can just see a little tear, that is not the case on this one, so i think they framed this one without the Gould name showing to match how they framed the other one. IT LOOKS AWESOME. the colors are strong, the paper is white. YOU WILL BE PROUD TO DISPLAY THIS IN YOUR HOUSE. there is some light spotting on the plate, which is very common, but again the colors are so strong and nice and i love the detail of Gould's work, so lovely and ready to hang. you need to do nothing except purchase.(there is a bit of light nicking on the frame, you may want to touch it up, i dont do anything except wipe down the glass for photos, but that is up to you.
