Description: For sale is a Vintage Antique Old Covered Butter or Cheese Dish Circa Early 1900's with Etched Name of Owner. These types of things were bought at Carnivals or Fairs in the early 1900's. The name of the buyer or owner was scratched into the red painted surface. You see smaller items such as toothpick holders etc. I've never encountered a covered butter dish before. These must be quite rare. The base by itself is about 1-inch high and has a outer diameter maximum of between 7-1/4 - 7-3/4 inches. The top by itself is around 5-1/4 inch in height and has a diameter at the bottom of between 5-1/8 - 5-1/4 inches. Used condition. Has some tiny nicks or chips due to age and handling but very hard to see. Gold trim is worn on bottom piece. Overall appears to be pretty good for its age.
