Description: This is a lovely and vibrant Vintage Old California Plein Air Desert Landscape Oil Painting on Artist Board, depicting a vibrant and colorful California desert landscape scene, with blooming pink wildflowers, golden hued grasses, finely detailed mountains, and a turquoise sky above, punctuated with fluffy white clouds. Signed in the lower left corner: "(Illegible) Petersen." The first name might be Katherine, but I am not sure. I could not find any information on this painter, but perhaps you know more about her or her work? This painting is possibly by the hand of Katherine Elizabeth Petersen (b. 1917) of Palm Springs, California, who passed away in 2023 at the age of 105. Additionally, this artwork is titled at the lower edge: "Evening on the Desert." This piece likely dates to the 1950's - 1960's. This small gem is approximately 11 3/4 x 15 3/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 10 x 14 inches. Good condition for age, with some speckles of light paint loss throughout, and mild scuffing and edge wear to the original period gilded frame (please see photos.)
