Description: Are you looking for a vintage wooden clarinet that is a little more rare? Look no further than the Noblet "Stubbins" Bb clarinet. The "Stubbins" clarinet employs a special Bb vent to aid in tuning the "throat Bb", which is common problem many clarinet players deal with. William H. Stubbins was the Professor of Clarinet at the University of Michigan. This model of clarinet has a throat tone venting system know as the S-K mechanism, which was designed by Stubbins and developed by Frank L. Kaspar in Ann Arbor. Overall, the clarinet is original, playable, and in great condition with no cracks or repairs. The cork is worn and some of the pads should probably be replaced, but nothing beyond normal wear. It is playable as it sits. One emblem is missing. These instruments really are rare finds. The tone from a wooden clarinet is much purer and richer than the plastics, and the Stubbins variation makes this one a little different. All pictures are the actual instrument.
