The silver closure at the top works by pulling both edges apart, then rhetorically lock clicks open. You do have to be meticulous about lining up the lock again to close the bag. It sometimes doesn’t click into place naturally. This bag unfortunately does have lots of scratches and signs of wear to the outside. It would benefit from being refinished by a professional. It’s also wearable as is. The scratches give it added character! She’s vintage!! On one side of the bag there’s also a texture that almost looks like lots of little pieces of fuzz from a sweater are stuck on it. I wiped it with a damp rag and it helped, but I didn’t want to rub the leather too hard and risk damaging it more. Bag dimensions are 8.5” x 10.75” x 3”. This is a handbag, not a shoulder bag. From the top of the bag to the top of the strap is about 5 inches.
