Description: This colorful Kurdish flat weave Kilim-style Jajim rug or coverlet was densely woven by hand on a narrow loom and seamed in the center. The bright design of Kurdish geometric motifs incorporates diamonds, ram's horns and running water in the horizontal banding and the interlocking border. The ram's horns frame the other motifs in the rug. Hand-tied colorful knots appear interspersed across the intricate pattern of the deep and rich colors and are said to ward off evil spirits or signify eternity. The 6" fringes at the ends are hand-tied. We are unsure of its age. The condition is excellent. We find no odors or staining and it appears not to have been used on a floor as there is no dirt on the fringes or on the reverse. We note some minimal color transfer of the bright natural dyes between the panels. There are two small openings in the weaving near an end, as pictured, but hard to see, 36" wide x 112" long
