Description: This is an all-bisque Nancy Ann Storybook Doll (NASB) from the 1940s. She is #157 Queen of Hearts, from the company's Storybook Fairyland Series. She comes in her original, properly labeled box, with her original pamphlet, neck and foot guards and best of all, an original NASB red heart shaped box frame insert. The heart frames were occasionally added to NASB boxes and are fairly hard to find. The doll is in very good condition with minor flaws, from the estate of the original owner. She is a harder to find jointed leg doll with a less common pudgy tummy (see photos). Her bisque is in nice shape with no broken parts, however her right shoe was chipped at the toe and the chipped piece was glued back on long ago (see photo). The doll's face paint is lovely and all original. Her brown wig is full, uncut and in the original side-part style with lots of wave. She is wearing a red taffeta dress with a semi sheer white overlay on the skirt, decorated with a red felt hear and red ribbon. She wears a red ribbon in her hair. Underneath she has lace trimmed pantalettes which are taped in the back. Her dress ties close in back with a ribbon instead of a brass pin. This denotes a doll made during the World War II years when metal was rationed. The outfit is very good with minor age yellowing and a bit wrinkled in back from being in the box for decades. Her original 1940s pamphlet is great with no creases or tears. The red heart frame insert and cardboard neck and foot guards are also very nice. The original red polka dot box has its foil label. The box is lightly soiled with age and has light marks, but is structurally sound and protects the doll well. Nonsmoking estate collection.
