Description: For your consideration is an Antique Sadler Lidded Chintz Ginger JarA nice mix of English chintz is on this antique James Sadler lidded jar. It's the perfect size for layering into vignettes and bookshelves. 5" tall. Ginger jars were used to store and carry spices and herbs in Ancient China. Important spices like salt and ginger were put in these beautiful containers. It wasn’t until they came to Europe that they began to be called “Ginger Jars.” Over time, they became more of a decorative piece than for storage.
