Description: Offered are 2 vintage Hawaiian black & white photos of Kaumakapili Church - before and after the Chinatown Fire of 1900.The upright photo incorrectly labeled as "Kamakapili" church shows the church before the fire. The church was built in 1838.The second photo shows the devastation of church endured due to the fire. No spires and just a shell of the building remaining. The fire burned for 17 days and was initially started as a "controlled burn" due to the Bubonic Plague outbreak in Chinatown. The before photo measures 4 /14 inches x 3 3/8 inches and appears to have been housed in a photo album as there are four glue spots on each corner on the backside. The after photo measures 4 3/4 inches x 3 3/4 inches. Both photos are housed in a rigid plastic sleeve for display and storage purposes and come from a smoke free home. Please refer to the photos for your reference.Message me with any other questions. Thanks for looking!Mahalo!
