VINTAGE Hartmann by Sharif Belting Tan Leather Portfolio

Description: Description The vintage portfolio being offered in this listing was designed for Hartmann by world renowned designer Sharif. The exterior of the portfolio is made of luxurious and supple tan-colored belting leather while the interior is entirely lined with a rich, dark brown leather. The portfolio is comprised of one main compartment sufficiently large to safely hold your laptop and files. There are also two separate document compartments, each with a full length zipper closure to keep stored items secure. One is on the outside back of the portfolio and the other within the aforementioned main compartment. About Sharif Sharif was born and raised in Cairo and the son of a leather artisan, so it was only natural that he continued the tradition of working as a leather craftsman. In 1979 he started his eponymous handbag company, Sharif Design Ltd., and quickly developed a reputation for quality and a dedication to his customers. Sharif grew to be the largest handbag brand in the United States in the late 1980’s and he founded the American Leather Accessory Designers guild. Sharif’s designs are in the Esse Purse Museum and he has won numerous awards over the years for his creations. About Belting LeatherIn 1939 the President of Hartmann presented the belt of a flywheel to a tannery to demonstrate the strength and durability required for Hartmann products. Known as "belting leather", it was made using the finest quality, vegetable tanned American leather. It retains its natural characteristics such as barb wire markr, blemished and wrinkles, giving individuality not found in other leathers. It also acquires an even more appealing finish as it ages, a quality known as burnish or patina.
