The Emperor serves as an ambassador and spokesperson for the organization and is responsible for representing the organization at events and functions, as well as promoting LGBTQ+ rights and awareness. Harry, the aspirant on this pinback, lost to Bob Cramer. Cramer served as Emperor III from September 15, 1974 - September 13, 1975. The Imperial Court System of San Francisco continues to this day, with Emperors and Empresses being elected annually to represent the organization and the LGBTQ+ community more broadly. Caringi's campaign for Emperor in the 1970s is an important part of the organization's history and the broader history of LGBTQ+ activism and advocacy in San Francisco.
